News Details (Posted: September 4, 2007):

The Three River Valley Regional Business & Education Partnership is sponsoring the “Shot in the Dark” Golf Tournament formerly provided by RightFoot

Full Description:

Are you looking for a fun and exciting event for a good cause?

If you like to golf but maybe aren’t so good at it…then participate in the 5th Annual Shot in the Dark Golf Tournament on September 14th. Playing in the dark sure does help narrow the gap of experience and provide lots of laughs! Shot in the Dark will benefit Three River Valley business & Education Partnership’s “Starfish Mentoring Programs” and will be held at the Crown Point Country Club in Springfield. Activities begin at 6:00 pm with appetizers and dinner followed by a game of nighttime golf, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle.

The goal of the mentoring programs is to foster inter-generational relationships by matching caring adult mentors with youth. The “Starfish Initiative” provides five “arms” of mentoring which include the school based mentoring programs known as “let’s Do Lunch”, “Lunch and More” and the “SPARK” programs. Community based programs include “PALS” and “Career” mentoring.

This year’s Shot in the Dark tournament will be a scramble format. Tees, fairway boundaries, and greens will be marked with glow sticks. Instead of the traditional flag pins, tiki torches will provide a target at each hole. The rest will be taken care of by the glow-in-the-dark balls, which should provide quite a visual show. All players are encouraged to participate regardless of skill level. Golf carts will not be allowed during this event for safety reasons; however, arrangements will be made for those with special needs.

The cost for individual registration is $70 and $250 for a team of four. Team sponsors will have company logos included on the event t-shirt.

If you would like to join in the fun at the 2007 Shot in the Dark Golf Tournament, or if you would like to help sponsor the event, please contact The Three River Valley Business & Education Partnership at (802) 885-8314 or mgelineau@vermontel.net.
